Pitches retain their familiar motion-based controls, but this year, 2K has upped the ante so players can't exploit a single pitch or location in the hopes of easy victory. What actually happened is the series regressed, adding a couple of new gimmicks while leaving the majority of the game without improvement or upgrade. Given this is the last year of 2K's exclusive MLB license, there was hope that the team would go all out and create a game that would stand the test of time.
I think the whole problem stems from 2K trying to take out and replace players on the DL, but from what I've seen it apparently caused more problems then it was worth.With the MLB 2K series, every year looks like the franchise is on the cusp of something great, only to fall a little bit short.

I heard you may be able to resolve that by going offline and removing the update from your console, as a result though you have to earn the achievement offline. I've heard of this happening in the home run derby, I've been skeptical about going for the achievement since I don't want to put all the work in then have to start over.
I've gotten into this habit now because people have also reported their my player freezing during their 4th season, which means if your going for The Hall achievement, you got a long way to climb back. It may be in your best interest to start over and save early and often. I wish I could help further, but this is just such a bug filled mess of a game only God knows what caused your problem. I'm hoping this will fix itself, but who knows.
Usually the game may still consider you a minor leaguer and not give you a season goal, but I did not receive a team goal either. Like I said, I experienced absolutely no problems in My Player till I entered my second season. There is no clear sign of what can and can't cause a glitch other then the common message glitch. I know, I love baseball to death, but this game is really a travesty.
